About Angela Hiddleston
Founder of Designs For Fires.
A passion for warmth, design, and connection
For Angela, fireplace design is more than just a niche - it’s a passion. With a deep appreciation for the way a fireplace transforms not just a space but the way people live in it, Angela brings both creativity and technical know-how to every project. She believes a fireplace should be more than a heat source - it should be a focal point, a gathering place, and a source of comfort year-round.
"Creating spaces where people can relax, connect, and enjoy the warmth of a fire - that’s what drives me. Seeing the transformation in both the room and the way people use it is rewarding."
Over 20 years of design and construction experience
Angela’s career spans more than two decades across New Zealand, Australia and the UK. She’s worked alongside leading fireplace manufacturers in Europe, partnered with distributors, and collaborated with architects and builders across both residential and commercial projects.
That experience has given her a unique understanding of how to balance form and function - creating fireplace designs that are not only beautiful but also meet the practical demands of installation, compliance, and lifestyle.

Angela has a Bachelor of Building Science (Architecture) from Victoria University of Wellington and a Graduate Diploma in Interior Design (Distinction) from Queensland University of Technology. Her work has been recognised with:
